Topsy Turvy Upside-downers

bambu

Following on from my Upside-downers portfolio post , I’m putting all of the images I’ve created up here. They are all inspired by the work of people such as Rex Whistler, who created lots of upside-down faces as part of a Shell Oil advertising campaign in the 1930′s, and the American Illustrator Peter Newell who published two volumes of upside-down drawings called Topsys & Turvys in around 1890. Although, these types of reversible illustrations have been around for hundreds of years, with some found in books dating back to before 1600AD.

Here are the ones that I’ve created that are downloadable as a theme through the Bambu App:

The Creative Connection

A few months ago I had the pleasure of working with Caroline from The Creative Connection to create a video explaining the basics of co creation.

The retro feel of The Creative Connection’s logo was a great inspiration. I storyboarded each scene to seamlessly flow into the next, from products to coffee-shops to pilots and back again.

It was a great challenge and we are all really proud of the result. The video was animated and edited by Angie Thomas, who did very well to put up with my demanding nature!

You can take a look at the finished video below, and be sure to visit The Creative Connection website to find out more about co creation and how it could benefit you.

The MA2011 exhibition at Grand Parade Brighton is now over. It’s been a fantastic journey, and thanks to all of you who came along to see the work.

If you missed out, you can see the work here, and my books and prints are now available to buy through The Shop.

There are also a few pictures of the work of others in the show:
